VERTIX Review Choirs: 1000kms thorough test from the Pyrenees to Guadarrama. Our GPS clock section brings us today the test thoroughly for our #Patroncarrerasdemontana Abel of fruits of the choirs VERTIX Icebreaker.A GPS that has come to stay and that little by little a place is being made among the most used GPS of athletes.
Together with Apex Pro, Apex and Pace 2 we have a range of GPS watches for any type of athlete.Among the entire range, this VERTIX will surely be chosen for athletes looking for a GPS for their adventures, especially for the mountain.
We start with a "unboxing" video of our partner Daniel and then continue with more details.

Before starting the test thoroughly, let's see who is wearable choirs, inc.Coros is a Californian company in Tustin that seeks to find a hole among the well -known brands of sports GPS such as Garmin, Polar or Suunto. In fact, while we write this article we believe that it has already achieved it.To do this, it brings us, four different watches for each type of athlete. The PACE 2 (multideport device focused on career sports, cycling and swimming and moderate price), Apex Pro, Apex (designed with more quality and robustness, more battery and an ideal competitor for Garmin's Forerunner range for example).Watches that we hope to try in the future for all.It highlights in them the battery, simplicity and price, three bets with which choirs wants to settle between the top 3.
.
Possibly the most powerful choir GPS, with the aim of unseatting and competing against Garmin Fenix 6, Garmin Enduro and Suunto 9 Baro.Let's quickly look at its main characteristics.
.
We have several versions of the VERTIX choirs. In our case we have been able to test the VERTIX Icebreaker choirs, which offers us sapphire crystal and fiber bevel.Still of heavy appearance to the naked eye has only 60 grams of weight according to our scale belt included!A sports GPS, intended for adventure, mountain and since not the ultra trail that is where we have been able to get it out.
A clock that has 3 buttons in the sphere, one at the top for the light, in the center the so -called KNOB button that will allow us to quickly and fluently navigate by all the functional ones of the clock, and a last button at the bottom forBack back on the menus and press the LAP option during our exercise. It also has a touch screen so that we can navigate the exercise with both KNOB digital and finger.
One of the characteristics that I would like to stand out from this vertix is that it is a sports clock, by and for the athlete. It is not a smart watch as such, that is, although it is connected by Bluetooth with the mobile, this connection is limited to the use of notifications (calls, messages, whatsapp, etc).So do not expect from him, music, card payment, Google Maps or other functionalities that you can find in GPS of other brands.Quality that allows you to extend your battery for a long time.
After almost 1000kms, 24000m of ascent, as many of descent and more than 145 hours of use in several modalities we have been able to enjoy all the potential of the VERTIX Icebreaker choirs.
Faithful user of Garmin as you know everyone who knows me, I really wanted to try the choirs.I am one of those who think that it is very complicated that a person changes GPS brand as well as, as long as your previous GPS have gone well, because when you get used to the use of both the clock and the applications it is difficult to move from one to another.
However, perhaps because I am a bit of technology geek, or because GPS is really simple, this pass from Garmin to Coros has not been very complicated.VERTIX choir software (which he shares largely with the rest of his companions) is very simple to use. Thanks to Digital Knob it is very easy.
Here we leave you video of how to configure it and squeeze all its functionalities.
As we mentioned earlier and after seeing the configuration video you will have seen that VERTIX choirs is a totally sports watch. It offers us several default widgets that are not configurable (Garmin users will miss this option), but that give us all the necessary information for our day to day.We can see a summary of our day, heart rate that you have already observed can be through wrist or an ant+band, altimetry, oxygen measurement, temperature (eye that when wearing it on the wrist will always give us some more temperature of the temperature of theexpected) and dawn data, sunset, sunset, etc..
Today, May 18, users will receive an update in which they can also enjoy the new Evolab that we will explain later.
In addition to these widgets, we can quickly access the configuration menu by pressing the Back button, from where we can access most configurations, as already wears in the video.
In addition and to start any of the sports activities, it will only be necessary. From this option we can also access our scheduled training (which we can have configured before through the app) and all our history.
For this thorough test we have concentrated mainly on the modalities of Trail and Carrera, in addition to several track training, because we really wanted to prove that functionality. We have also made some pool training and enough training that choirs calls Cardio Gym.It has many more sports, but we have obviously not had the opportunity to try them all.Let's see some of the most interesting features of these sports of our thorough test.
Most of the training made with this VERTIX choirs were through the National Park of the Sierra de Guadarrama, Segovia and Madrid. As a climax, the 90 kms in self -sufficiency of Cavalls de Vent on my own, leaving Bagá and ending in the same place.
The functioning of the trail and career modes are very similar, with the main difference that in the race mode you can activate the entremiento by intervals. An option that seems to me the most interesting, because you can quickly configure and from the clock an entertainment of basic series, of the type, heating + x repetitions (for time, distance, free) + rest (for time, distance, free) +Cooling. For this type of training it is not necessary to use the app that has a much more complete configurator to define more complex series.
In addition from the two modes, we can configure alerts, automatic pause and the navigation mode to follow the routes (GPX) that we would have added before in our app.The app allows you to define the interface you want to use in each mode, up to 6 different screens that you can configure with 1 or up to 6 data. From the hour, at total time, time in motion, distance, thus up to 30-40 different options depending on the chosen sport. Finally you can navigate through them on the clock during your sporting activity using the touch screen or the digital KNOB.
The VERTIX choirs allows us to add previously defined routes and paths (created by external tools such as Google or downloaded from other types of platforms (.GPX)).You can launch or follow a journey from the system configuration itself. Also during the activity you can (by clicking for a few seconds the LAP button) access the system and access a previously added route.
Very interesting the additional screens you can access during navigation. On the one hand the route, which shows you a red line for the route that you have to follow and on top of a white line where you are going, in addition to arrows indicating the route.Allows zoom from 25m to 50km and shows alerts if you deviate from the route or when you have to make a change of address. In addition we can see a profile of the route, which is showing us at what time of the route we are and which we can also zoon to see exactly where we are more accurate.
Personally I liked the ease with which the routes can be added, how easy it is to start a route and how easy it is to zoon the route and the navigation both tactile and with the digital KNOB.
We also have a very interesting track mode.In this mode Coros tries to make our train training as tight as possible. We can only activate it in race mode, and it gives us the option to change the street we are going to run.In this mode the GPS calculates on the distance of the street through which you are going to run and the turns you give, estimating the distance traveled quite precisely. In this way, we can make series along any street estimating much better the distance traveled.
As most GPS watches, one of the most interesting functionalities under my view is the configuration and training programming. It is an option that not everyone takes advantage, so I think it is good that I tell you a little how it works.
Like the rest of the clock, training creation is quite simple and trivial, you just have to access the app and create a program. You can create training both for career, cycling, swimming and strength.
We will add a name and description and from there we will configure the training we are going to do, grouping heating, return to calm, repetitions, intensities, breaks. We can define the type of objective in our intervals, such as time, distance, training and free load, in addition we can also define intensities to which we want to train.
All this, we can configure it from the app.
Choir app is only available on mobile devices.Unfortunately, we cannot "play" with our data, our activities and everything else from the computer through web.Something that in my opinion should work the choir team.I think they should not depend on external apps or websites for data processing. The reason is that if you do not allow you to treat the data to people with your own app, it is possible that the staff stop using your app and go on to use other external ones.
As for the app, it is very intuitive and easy to use, we can schedule training, add paths and routes, visualize all our training and statistics, see graphics of our daily data and configure the clock at will (notifications, spheres, plans oftraining, etc..
In the following video you can see a few tips on how to configure your clock from the app
During the last two weeks we have had the opportunity to test, test and evaluate in the Evolab Primicia the renewed Sports Science Platform of Choir. This new platform will be available in its beta version today May 18 for 1000 choir users (Pace 2/Apex 46mm/Apex Pro/VERTIX) by means.
Evolab is focused on the improvement of training throughout the season. It offers us metrics to monitor the daily, weekly and long -term training load, it also allows us to manage the recovery, intensity and load of training.Based mainly on career mode, this update will provide us with additional characteristics so that the corridor can improve its performance, in the future more characteristics will be added to other types of activity.
In short, Evolab offers different metrics to indicate how we progress during our training. We can focus our training on one or several metrics to improve what we need.
Choirs has been a surprise for me.Faithful follower of the Garmin Fenix for many years and after making some incursion into polar and suunto, I think choos is doing a great job with its GPS watches. In fact, the transition has not been complicated from each other.
Specifically, this VERTIX Icebreaker choirs meets all the necessary expectations to use it in my mountain and route training.Of course there are things to improve, such as (always in our point of view):
Within the strengths:
