Bogotá, January 2021. To face the economic, social and environmental challenges of our era, Bogotá adopted the District Development Plan A new social and environmental contract for the 21st century. According to this plan, all actions related to social and economic recovery must be adapted to the principle of sustainable development, seeking strategies to prevent, adapt and mitigate the climate crisis.
In this sense, Agreement 761 of 2020 defined as a priority the establishment of programs that promote the circular economy to improve the processes of generation and use of waste. During 2021, the Ministry of Economic Development identified areas of opportunity to promote strategies and adoption of the circular economy in the productive fabric of the city:
Circular economy: an opportunity for the productive fabric of Bogotá
DANE mentions that for the year 2019, about 1,500 million kilograms of waste were generated that were discarded and that were not reused by other industries to execute other production processes. This shows that there is an opportunity to use waste for generation and innovation. of products from different economic sectors.
Based on the opportunities to incorporate circular economy models, the Circularízate program seeks for 35 companies in the city, from 6 productive clusters, to transition from a traditional business model to one that takes advantage of and uses waste in its value chain, mainly in the development of innovative products, processes or services.
The program has 6 components.
The 35 selected companies will receive consulting and support for the development of innovative products, processes or services in circular economy that will generate economic, social and environmental benefits: innovation and competitive advantages, cost reduction, reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and strengthening of the supply chain.
At the end of the program, the 35 selected companies will have tools and knowledge to identify circular economy opportunities, design strategies with a focus on sustainability and attract investment.
Information about the Circularize program:
1.Training in Circular Economy: 54 hours of theoretical-practical training.
