CDMX collected 6.2 million pesos for the possession of luxury vehicles that were warned

The government of Mexico City managed to collect 6.2 million pesos during 2021 for the payment of ownership of owners of luxury vehicles whose value exceeds one million pesos and who, to avoid the tax contribution, had their car registered in another entity , revealed this Wednesday the treasurer, Roberto Fernández.

The official announced that last year about 100 warnings were made to owners of high-end vehicles whose value exceeds one million pesos, who have fiscal domicile in Mexico City, but their car registered in another entity. As a result of these warnings, many of these motorists paid the corresponding fee in Mexico City, which generated a collection of 6.2 million pesos.

“We detected very few vehicles already making a (data) crossing, to which some action (warning) was even carried out. We are talking about less than 100 vehicles. Many approached, paid and it was a collection of 6.2 million pesos. They approached, placed and paid their tenure”, commented the treasurer.

The warnings sent by the Treasury to the owners of luxury vehicles located in other entities said: "Dear taxpayer, derived from the information available to this tax authority, as well as from the validation carried out on the serial number of the vehicle, whose characteristics are set forth below, it is known that you acquired said vehicle and have your fiscal domicile in Mexico City. Therefore, the obligations set forth in article 160 of the Fiscal Code of Mexico City are configured, with respect to registering, registering and making the payment for the tax on possession or use of the vehicle in this federal entity.

And it was added: "you are required so that, within the term of 6 business days following the one in which the notification of this document has taken effect, make the payment of the omitted periods or, where appropriate, display the documents that prove that you have made the pay".

At a press conference, the treasurer Roberto Fernández reported that in 2021, 4,329 million pesos were obtained from the collection of the possession, of which 50% "has to do with the effective collection of cars that do pay the possession and the rest It is the collection obtained by the subsidy that is given to all individuals who have a car whose already depreciated value, including VAT, is 250,000 pesos.

He explained that in Mexico City there are 66,000 cars circulating whose invoice value is greater than 250,000 and that they would have to contribute with the payment of vehicle ownership, however, they are located in other states so as not to comply with the contribution established in the Code. Capital prosecutor. For this evasion, the government of the capital imposes a fine of 500 to 900 pesos, but only in those cars whose value exceeds one million pesos.

He explained that in the capital, ownership is paid for the first five years of a car's useful life, and later, with the depreciated value, the subsidy can be accessed to only pay the endorsement. “What they are going to end up paying in the future is less than in another state,” he pointed out.

The Secretary of Administration and Finance, Luz Elena González, stressed that in order to encourage placement in Mexico City, the requirements were reduced and from February the process can be carried out online and the owner of the vehicle will only have to choose the module in the you want to collect your plates.
