Enjoy a romantic getaway in the Mallorcan countryside next to the Love Island Village

Leaning over the terrace of the hotel, I look at the Majorcan countryside, and everything seems a little familiar to me.

It's probably because the tree-covered mountains and sandy orange fields are right down the street from the village of Love Island that appeared on our TV screens last summer.

But instead of gossip about the obscene pranks of the previous night, couples on the balcony of the Carrossa hotel enjoy three-course dinners with Mediterranean salads, seafood and wine.

La Carrossa is in the Levante hills, an hour's drive from Palma airport. There are 75 luxury rooms as well as four large villas with private infinite pool.

But you won't find the neon signs and brightly colored pufs that Millie Court and her gang enjoy in the village of Love Island.

Instead, there is a quiet spa with an indoor pool overlooking another terrace with a large outdoor pool and padded loungers.

The hotel is also close to some beaches and coastal villages.

The bay of Alcudia is a great place to take some TAPAS next to the beach, while in the old city of Pollensa, you can enjoy impressive views from the wall that surrounds the city.

We leave to explore the small commercial city of Arta, ten minutes drive from the complex, which houses a large market every Tuesday.

The stalls stretch through the main square, dividing into the side streets, with tourists and locals admiring the selection of trinkets.

Clothing, household items, jewelry and art are offered, most of which are made at home.

But we were quickly attracted to the smells emanating from the street vendors of creamy cheeses, cured meats, German and Spanish baked products and freshly cooked fries and sweets. If none of that you like, there are many traditional restaurants: try Sa Teulera, which makes a fantastic paella.

Be sure to also visit the caves of Arta, a group of ancient caves that were once used as a pirate hideout.

Or head to the Almudaina d'Arta, a powerful Arab fortress with incredible views of the countryside.

After so much exploration, Carrossa is the perfect place to fail. It's about relaxing.

The hotel spa offers massages, facial treatments and all the classics, or you can de-stress in one of the two types of sauna: a Finnish version or a soft biosauna, which is a little cooler. Sunlovers will spend most of their time by the pool, which has so many sun loungers that it will never have trouble finding a place.

Better yet, the waiters will bring you as many cocktails by the pool as you wish.

We prefer to spend the hours on the private porch of our Junior Suite, where every morning we received an incredible dawn while we had our coffee (each suite has its own Nespresso machine).

Inside there is a modern bedroom, an en suite bathroom with a large floor shower and a separate living room, as well as a kitchen. It's not like there's a lot of need for cooking facilities when the restaurants in the complex are so good.

To enjoy incredible views, head to the main restaurant, which uses fresh local ingredients: the kitchen staff cultivates herbs in the hotel's own courtyard.

And although the menu may be short, the wine list is quite the opposite.

Carrossa produces its own wines, a fresh and dry sau-vignon Blanc and a slightly smoked red, which is worth trying.

If you really like wine, go to the winery, which has tasting sessions.

Or for something more fruity, the hotel's cave shaped rustic bar serves cocktails and a large selection of gin.

With picturesque views, top-notch facilities and a state-of-the-art spa, Carrossa meets all the requirements for a luxury getaway.
