ARMAND BASI returns to the ring with a timeless and genderless renewal

One of the most iconic firms in the Spanish textile industry is back stronger than ever, redesigning its past and betting on a new line for the flagship of the BASI group.

Born in 1987, Armand Basi became a design reference in the fashion of the 80s inside and outside our borders. Now, and after decades in the shadows, BASI Group intends to "recover the founding spirit of the brand, adapting it to the 21st century".

Likewise, they want to separate the firm from fleeting trends, thus betting on timeless and genderless lines that make their garments the coolest basics in any wardrobe. "It has been too many years following the fashion herd and we have realized that we do not want to continue like this. We will work on the new collections as independent capsules, without seasons and without official timings", they affirm from the brand.

Bet on emerging talent: PROJECT 01

If this made in Spain firm has been characterized by something since its inception, it is by making independent capsules in collaboration with new talents in the world of fashion and creation. For this reason, the first collection of this new era comes from the hand of Eva Basi, granddaughter of the founder of this house, who plays the role of creative director, and Joan Ros as designer.

"In this first collaboration we claim a new quality tailoring, as well as local production. We carry the textile industry in our veins and we are ready to boycott our own legacy, to blow up classic elegance. We are going to turn the concept of traditional tailoring, taking as a reference the British tailoring of youth countercultures", they explain from the firm.

Thus, the Project 01 collection does not understand genres or seasons and is committed to a more responsible and sustainable consumption model. For this reason, the collection is produced in Lleida and has a limited number of units so as not to generate surpluses. This capsule is also committed to upcycling since a large part of the fabrics have been recovered from leftovers from companies in the fashion sector. "We use trimmings and materials from the brand's old collections, as well as buttons, zippers, labels, etc.", they conclude.
