All of them are going through this process of self-discovery, but Perrin Aybara experiences a change in his body in episode 5 of the first season that has a powerful importance for the story and is something in which the series created by Rafe Judkins for Amazon Prime Video still has to go deeper. In the episode in question, 'Blood calls to blood' (1x05), Perrin's eyes turn yellow and the character shows impressive strength.

It is not the first time that we intuit that wolves are vital in the plot of Marcus Rutherford's character and that Perrin has some kind of connection and even influence over these animals. In fact, a pack of wolves with mysterious intentions has been stalking the character since a first strange encounter in the woods in episode 2, in which one of them licked his wound. For reasons Perrin and Egwene did not understand, the wolves chased them into the desert area, but once there they avoided approaching, merely watching them from afar. "It's almost like we've been led here," Egwene commented as they watched the tracks of a wagon that they decided to follow.

In the fifth episode, however, the pack becomes directly involved and attacks the Children of Light. At that moment, in addition, Perrin acquires superhuman strength and his eyes suddenly turn yellow. What does this mean? What powers does Marcus Rutherford's character have and what do they mean for his future?

-EYE! Details of Robert Jordan's literary saga are revealed below. If you don't want to know them, you better stop reading now-

Perrin is a Wolf Brother in 'The Wheel of Time'

As revealed in the first novel in the series, The Eye of the World, Perrin is what the wolves call a "Wolf Brother". Wolf Brothers are humans who have the unusual ability to communicate telepathically with wolves, and when one of them appears, the wolves that live in the nearby areas are automatically drawn naturally to the place where this person is.

Shortly after his psychic connection with the wolves begins to develop, the Wolf Brother's eyes in question take on their yellow color, his greatest identifying trait. To wolves, wolf brothers are full members of their pack and are treated accordingly. For that reason, the pack did intervene when Perrin was in trouble in the fifth episode of the series, and for that reason, too, they helped them find a way to continue their adventure.

What powers does Perrin possess exactly? Throughout his journey in the literary saga, Perrin has a telepathic connection with numerous wolves over several kilometers and this allows him to know how many are in the area and their exact location. In addition, as if it were a wolf, Perrin has a greater ability to see in the dark and has a greater sense of smell, but not just any smell, but one that also allows him to smell emotions. Superhuman strength, however, is characteristic of the series and not the books.

Another of Brother Wolf's powers is his connection to Tel'aran'rhiod (or the Wolf's Dream), a dimension in which those who possess the ability known as Dreamwalker can meet and meet even in different places. and use their thoughts to control and manipulate everything around them. This Dreamwalker ability stems from the One Power, so only those capable of channeling the power can reach Tel'aran'rhiod. With the exception of the Wolf Brothers, for whom this is a quality of great importance and makes them very powerful.

How Perrin will find out and what it means for his future

At the moment, Perrin is still hallucinating what is happening to him and has no idea that he is a Brother Wolf, but he will find out at some point in the story. It may be different from the books, yes, since, on paper, it is a character named Elyas Machera who explained why his eyes were yellow and what they meant.

It seems like Elyas isn't a character in Amazon's Wheel of Time, so it's possible that it's a different character talking to the character about the Wolf Brothers or that it doesn't happen until later in season two which has already confirmed the platform, for example.

As for what it will mean for his future, we can assume that the wolves consider Perrin as one of their own, making them undoubtedly valuable allies for the character. Just like in the books. Likewise, his powers will also be key in the fight against evil, but, for now, the enormous adventure told in 14 books by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson has only just begun.
