It's time to give it the love that our laundry room deserves

For the laundry room of a house in Litchfield, Connecticut, architecture and design studio Dsgn first created a sort of blank canvas with Arboro White Oak walls. Those planks also covered the floors, which featured porcelain stoneware details. But the real drama came thanks to the extensions of Blue Explosion Quartzite, a bold and highly veined natural stone, which covered the countertops, the backsplashes and even the windowsill. Kay Nolan, vice president of Ciot New York—the company that provided the planks, tiles and quartzite—confirms that her company is increasingly helping designers with high-end laundry spaces. Porcelain can be an elevated option for these spaces: "Porcelain inserts in floors add luxury while being maintenance-free," she says.

Designer Kara Mann says many clients are rethinking every inch of their homes: "We've designed and renovated a lot of laundry rooms to make them feel like another beautiful space in the house. I love using a big table with nice legs in the center For Mann, the idea is to keep things not only tidy, but also attractive: "My house was built in 1867, so there are a lot of traditional design elements, like three vintage cast-iron bathtubs," he says. Mann placed the rough-edged tubs on sleek white stands to create a wet area with an almost post-modern character, as easy to use as it is to see.

Es hora de darle el amor que nuestro cuarto de lavado se merece

"I like to decant soaps and drying balls into glass jars, but what was on the market was sloppy or poorly made." Two years ago, he launched his Kept collection to create laundry accessories that fit form and function, as well as the most important design elements in the room, such as bathtubs: "I wanted to create cleaning products that were visible and not hidden in some closet".
