The culture of forgery is harvesting more adepts than ever that openly admit that they buy imitations of their favorite brands and products. But which European country is most interested in saving a cent of euro on these items?

Onbuy's Women's fashion department has used the online analysis tool Semrush to find average annual search volumes for fake products in each European country and here are the main conclusions:

·the UK leads the ranking with an average of 139,200 searches in the past year.

·next, Turkey with 101,880 searches per year. Given that Istanbul is one of the main destinations to which people travel in search of counterfeit products, it may not be surprising that they occupy such a high place on the list.

Just 3 months before Christmas, and with the gifts already in mind, Onbuy asked the respondents if they had ever bought a designer imitation for someone as a gift. 18% admitted that.

Sixty-seven per cent of those who said yes did not tell the person they gave him that it was false, while 23 per cent did. With financial uncertainty lurking more than ever this year due to Covid-19, OnBuy discovered that 41% of people would consider buying fake designer items for a loved one this Christmas.
